Over 35% of the volunteers are older adults. As a volunteer, you work with orphaned and disadvantaged children of the Monte Cristi community. LiFeline is a project of the Ridgeway Trust for Endangered Cats, a UK-based registered wildlife charity. If you would like to live in Belize for a while and help with wild cat research, then you might consider being part of the global volunteers for this fun job. This is a research and rehabilitation center that offers working vacations and conservation courses at it base in the foothills of the Maya Mountains in Belize. The center is a 60 acre private jungle reserve which is home to a host of wildlife, including toucan, kinkajou, ocelot, puma, deer, paca, agoutis parrots and hummingbirds.

In your volunteer work overseas, you could be working with jaguars, pumas, ocelots, margays and jaguarundis in their natural habitat. Following your orientation, your typical day may include radio-tracking a newly released cat, digging out a jaguar pond, helping to maintain cat enclosures, habitat vegetation analysis, setting camera traps and assisting with behavioral studies. You will have free time to explore the area.

You do pay for this working vacation/volunteering opportunity. The cost is $1,790 (US) plus $160 for optional tours to Belize Zoo and Mayan archeological sites.
